As you look over the website today, we would like you to keep a few things in mind:
- Please register for a free membership. The strength of our voice in Washington, D.C. is directly related to the number of members in our organization. Please join us in advocating for Coptic rights in Egypt.
- We have a goal of securing 5,000 memberships in the CAA by Christmas 2006. Please help us meet this goal by signing up and encouraging your friends and family to become members too.
- Please register to vote. As Copts we were deprived of full participation in the political system in Egypt. In the United States, voting is a right and a sacred duty. Participate and make yourself heard both in America and in Egypt.
- We are dedicated to mobilizing the Coptic youth. We believe that much of the success of the fight for Coptic equality and freedom in Egypt will depend upon how involved and motivated our younger members become. We encourage Coptic teens, college students, young professionals and families to get involved.
- We are committed to educating the American government and its citizens about the oppression of the Copts in Egypt. The people of this country cannot lend support to the Copts unless they are aware of the civil rights they are denied and the human rights abuses they suffer.
- The Board of Directors is a temporary entity formed for the founding of the CAA. Board membership will be expanded through the selection of like-minded individuals who are committed to the cause.
We want to stress to you that the Coptic Assembly of America is an organization of action not just events or words. This is an advocacy group that is going to the heart of making change in this country – Washington, D.C. By partnering with the Leadership Council for Human Rights and forming coalitions with other organizations, and by organizing, mobilizing and energizing the Coptic community in America, we will make a difference in the lives of our Coptic brothers and sisters in Egypt.
Sincerely yours,
Cameel Halim and Hoda Halim
